At Caljan, we’re growing fast and building smarter ways to produce. As our new Director of Production Development, you’ll lead the way in making our global manufacturing setup more efficient, scalable — and consistently high in quality.

Your Mission:

This is not an operational line role. It’s a strategic, cross-functional position where you’ll work closely with Production Management, Quality, Purchase, R&D, Planning, and Sales to transform ideas into scalable, high-performing production realities.

Your mission includes:

• Bridging product innovation and production readiness: Ensure that new products are introduced into serial production in a way that is robust, timely, and cost-efficient—without compromising on quality or lead time.
• Industrialising existing products: Support the ongoing optimisation of mature products by collaborating with R&D and local manufacturing sites to secure reliable and efficient production processes.
• Driving production capability development: Evaluate and advance the capabilities of our global manufacturing sites to ensure they are aligned with future needs in terms of capacity, technology, and process maturity.
• Implementing digital manufacturing tools: Champion the rollout and active use of D365 and other digital initiatives across production, ensuring accurate planning, improved transparency, and data-driven decision-making.
• Standardising processes globally: Lead cross-site initiatives to harmonise workflows, reduce variation, and build a foundation for scalable and repeatable best practices across Latvia, USA, and Germany.
• Improving product quality and consistency: Collaborate with site teams to identify opportunities for quality improvements and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Promoting continuous improvement: Embed a lean mindset and foster a culture of proactive problem-solving, knowledge-sharing, and operational excellence.
• Enabling effective planning and resource optimisation: Oversee production planning development across sites, ensuring strategic use of resources and alignment with delivery, quality, and efficiency targets.
• Acting as a trusted partner across functions: Serve as a key link between Operations, R&D, and Sales to secure industrialisation objectives and deliver on customer expectations.
• Expect approx. 40–60 travel days per year, primarily to support coordination, implementation, and improvement efforts across our production sites in Latvia, the USA, and Germany.

Who You Are:

You’re a big-picture thinker who understands the mechanics of production—and how to improve them. You’re structured, collaborative, and energized by solving complex problems across borders. You likely bring:

• A Master’s degree in Business Development Engineering, Production Engineering, Technology Management, or similar
• Minimum 3 years of experience in production development, ideally in an international, matrixed manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g. welding, assembly) and experience improving them
• Proven track record of driving cross-functional improvements and leading implementation projectsPrevious experience in consultancy or working with business improvement projects is an advantage
• ERP experience (preferably D365)
• Strong communication skills and an ability to align diverse teams toward shared goals
• Fluent in Danish and English 
• A natural focus on quality, efficiency, and long-term performance
